1. Status

The Bonsai Circle does not currently use automated decision-making on forum content, on direct messages, on your application to join, on renewal, or on any other aspect of your membership. Article 22 UK GDPR has no current application to your use of the Circle.

Moderation is carried out by the founders in accordance with the Moderation Standard Operating Procedure. Application and renewal decisions are made by the founders in accordance with the Vetting Standard.

2. Future automated screening

Automated pre-publication screening of posts and direct messages is planned for a future release of the Circle platform. Before we introduce it we will:

• publish a full Automated Decision-Making Disclosure at this address, describing the model, the routing, what the classifier receives, and your rights;
• complete and publish (in redacted form) a Data Protection Impact Assessment;
• update the Privacy Notice, the Confidentiality Regime, and the Forum Rules and Acceptable Use document;
• notify members by email at least 30 days before the change takes effect.

We do not commit to a date. Members will be told when the position changes.

3. Your rights in the meantime

Even though no automated decision-making is in use, your data protection rights under UK GDPR continue to apply. See the Privacy Notice at bonsai.law/circle/privacy, section 9.
